2022 in review

A less plague-y year.

Well it’s been a busy year. And I haven’t posted anything so here’s a catch up, with masses I’ve probably forgotten.

-2021 Adventure Department Xmas Special

Well I guess it’s only right to start this by breaking my own rules. This is news from 2021- we made another Adventure Department Christmas Special, we’re really proud of it. As well as a returning host of regular mates William Gaminara and Siobhan Redmand joined us Mr and Mrs Clause… dreamy. Listen here or subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.

-RADA Teaching

I led the 2nd year Acting Students in their in house Shakespeare project. Looking at Macbeth with such brilliant students was a total privilege and it was great to head back to RADA to try and offer some of the skills I’ve learnt since graduating.

-House of Shades

Then one of my favourite jobs I’ve ever had. I felt so lucky to be working again and on Beth Steel’s phenomenal working class, political, family epic was a real highlight of my time as an actor. What a play, what a company, what a director. I loved it so much. Some more info here.

-Wonderful World of Dissocia

I had some great times working with a fabulous bunch in this polarising off-the-wall play. Great to stretch some comedy muscles I haven’t used on stage for a while, and the second half brought other styles to play… if you haven’t seen the play I won’t say more, SPOILERS. More here.

-The Swing

Then I got the chance to properly work with Yaz and Haroun on their new short film. Shooting back home in Buxton with the wonderful Tom Clegg and an amazing crew. I learnt loads and can’t wait to see it. See some more of Brother Brother's work here.

-East 15

I returned to East 15 at their Southend campus (having worked with the 2nd years on the first approaches to Shakespeare last year) to lead the new 2nd years in their first Scene Study class. Loved it, and I’m looking forward to working with the students again next term on their next Shakespeare project.

-RADA Audition Panel

As well as all this I started the year back on the Audition panel and am bookending it by being on it again for the first rounds this time. Great to be doing it again, a real honour.

-All the other jobs

And of course on top of all this I’ve continued all those jobs that pay the bills… nearly. Workshop leading for the RSC Education Department and West End in Schools. Role playing for RADA Business, and as ever Shoeshining for the brilliant Charlie Carter.

So farewell 2022 and here’s to a stuffed full 2023.
